Feature Friday :: Braxton Family Values

Last season, I was really disappointed in the Braxton sisters hair and makeup choices (read Braxton Family Makeup Faux Pas).  From the bad wigs, to the excessive amounts of blush, it all just seemed too over the top,  and with divas like Toni and Tamar, I expected so much more.

Well, I finally peeped an episode of this season’s Braxton Family Values .  I was happy to see some improvement with the sisters.  It seems as though they learned a lot from last season — better wigs/weave, and they even toned down the heavy makeup, just a little.  The award for most improved  has to go to both with Towanda and Traci.  Those two have come a LONG way.

Remember in the first season, Towanda was always rocking the two ponytails and/or micro minis and frosty eye shadow.  Well, with season 2, Towanda has stepped it up with curly locs and opted for more warm and neutral tones.

Traci was all over the place  during the first season.  She was another fan of frosty eye shadow and her wigs just weren’t up-to-par as a professional cosmetologist. During this season, almost like an inconsistent boyfriend, sometimes she gets it right and the other times, well, she doesn’t.

All of the sisters looked fabulous during Toni’s induction to the Georgia Hall of Fame. Take a look at the episode:

Product Review Video :: Bobbi Brown’s Buffing Grains for Face

Flaky, dry skin…welcome to Winter! The frigid temperature, harsh winds, with little moisture, can do damage to the skin.  As you may have read in some of my previous posts, exfoliating plays a huge factor in fighting the winter skin blues.

I started using Bobbi Brown’s Buffing Grains for Face a few weeks away, twice a week.  Buffing grains is formulated with Japanese Adzuki Bean Powder, which helps remove dry patches and encourages skin cell turnover.  It’s also a 2-in-1, you can combine it with your cleanser or apply it with water.  It comes in a .99 oz/28 g. glass bottle with a pour top and priced at $42.

NEW Product Review Video :: Korres Quercetin & Oak Antiaging Eye Primer

I recently received a sample of Korres’s Quercetin & Oak Antiaging Eye Primer with compliments from BeautyStat.com, but my review is my own objective opinion.  I was excited to try the primer because Korres is an amazing brand of natural products.  I love their Wild Rose Mask: Instant Brightness & Illumination and Pomegrante Cleansing & Make Up Removing Wipes.

Here’s the run down: It’s a 3 in 1 primer, corrector and antiaging product. This primer claims to be a crease-proof, long-lasting eye shadow and concealer primer. Enriched with quercetin and oak extracts, it’s suppose to minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to provide softer skin while visibly improving skin texture. The primer has an apricot undertone that corrects darkness and imperfections on the eyelid and undereye area.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Dyes
- Petrochemicals
- Phthalates
- GMOs
- Triclosan

My issue with most primers are that they aren’t long lasting, my eye shadow fades or creases by the end of the day; if I don’t wear eye primer, my eyes will burn by the end of the day and some primers help with it and some don’t; finally I have noticed some primers like Urban Decay’s have leaves a white residue on my lid.

I tried Korres’s Quercetin & Oak Antiaging Eye Primer over the weekend and here’s my review on it:

NEW Video :: Finickey Hair Care Review

I recently received some hair care and skin care samples from a new line, Finickey.  Finickey is a luxury beauty brand specializing in  multi-ethnic skin and hair care.  Created by a research and development chemist, Finickey offers a full line of products including lip balms, skin moisturizers, body scrub, shampoo, conditioners and several natural hair styling solutions.  Finicky products are free from parabens, formaldehyde donors, sulfates, phthalates, petrolatum, mineral oil or synthetics dyes.

I tired three of the hair care products for the line — Gentle Moisturizing Cleanser, Ultra Moisturizing Conditioner, and the Leave-In Conditioner.  Here’s my review:
