Color of the Year :: Tangerine Beauty Trends

Move over seafoam green (Read: Fast Foward: Color Trend for Spring 2012), there’s a new color everyone’s obsessing about this spring season — tangerine orange.   This zesty and bright color has been named the hue of the year, by magazines like InStyle and Cosmopolitan. Just take a look through any of your favorite beauty and/or fashion magazines, I guarantee you’ll see a ton of ads featuring tangerine.  Take a look at how you can add this beautiful color in your beauty routine:

LIPS

CHEEKS

NAILS

I’ve rocked the look myself  using:

NYX Matte Lipstick in Indie Flick ($6)

NYX Powder Blush in Cinnamon ($6)

OPI in Atomatic Orange ($8)

So, what do you think about this trend?  Will you be sporting tangerine this spring?

Sweet Thang :: NEW Flushed Cheeks Tutorial

As mentioned in our Keeping Up With The Joneses :: Fall 2011 Beauty Trends post,  flushed cheeks are a top trend for this fall season.  If you take a look at any of the NYFW footage/photos or flip through any of your favorite beauty/fashion magazines you’re sure to see this trend.

Not only does this look strengthen your cheek bones, but it also provides a very youthful, feminine and sun-kissed look with minimal effort.  Check out my NEW tutorial on how to achieve this look:

This look very sweet look.  Remember, for a subtle look, just use a pink, peach or coral blush and apply to the apples of your cheeks.  For a more dramatic look, apply bronzer in a c-shape in the crease of your cheeks OR you could do both.  To make the look even more feminine, pair it up with a peachy, pale pink or nude lipstick

Here are some blushes I recommend:  Lorac’s Blush/Bronzer Duo in Hot Flash, Stila’s Custom Color Blush, and Lorac’s Baked Matte Satin Blush in Exposed.

Keeping Up With The Joneses :: Fall 2011 Beauty Trends

Fall doesn’t officially start until the 23rd, but judging from this upcoming weekend’s weather report, it’s pretty much already here. So time to pull out the layers and switch up the trends…and in case you aren’t familiar with the Fall 2011 beauty trends, here they are, fresh off the runway:

Red Lips  – Nothing is more daring and liberating than a woman in red…lipstick that is.in different shades variations of wine red, fire engine red, red velvet to neon red  to matte or shiny .

Remember: Blue based for fair skin and orange based or deep reds for dark complexions

Spider/Spiky Lashes – Clothes shouldn’t be the only thing you’re layering on this Fall…how about mascara?  Long, thick and voluminous lashes are  in this season, so don’t forget to pile on the mascara on both upper and lower lashes and don’t be afraid to try falsies.

Remember:  It’s all about the layers. Apply one coat of mascara to lower lash then top lash. Let dry and repeat the steps.

Smoky Metallic Eyes - Silver, gold and bronze, oh my! It never hurts to add a little sparkle to your palette.

Remember:  If you have dark skin, avoid silver and instead use golden or bronze colors.

Dramatic Eyeliner - Time the bring on the drama! For all my Drama Queens or Kings, if you really want to make a statement, try going bold with black eyeliner.

Flushed Cheeks – A simple way too add a little glow to your complexion is using pink blush.

Remember:  Cream blush is great for normal skin, but for oily or dry skin, stick with the powder.

So what look will you be trying this Fall?

Spring Trends 2011 :: Bright Colors & Neutrals

We’re just thirteen days away from the festive season of Spring.  Almost time to pull out those pastels, mixed prints and nudes.  If you aren’t up-to-date on the Spring Beauty Trends, don’t worry, we’ve got your covered.

This season, is all about bold, vibrant colors and ironically, neutrals.

JUICY LIP COLOR – Nothing says spring more than a bright, bold lip.  Hot pink colors from fuchsia to purplish-pinks and oranges from pale corals to burnt reds have been ripped straight off the runway to mainstream trends.

BRIGHT EYES – In addition to bold lip colors, blue, green and purple and other vibrant eyeshadows/liners offer a fun and flirty look for the spring.
NUDE  NAILS – One of Spring’s biggest nail trends is the nude nail.  Skin matching colors like beige, peach and chocolate gives a chic and polished look for Spring.

LUMINOUS SKIN – What better makeover for Spring, than a fresh, radiant glow? Try luminizers, highlighters, and/or bronzers to give yourself a healthy youthful sheen.

I’ve started early with the spring trends — juicy lip colors and bright eyes are my favorite!

What are yours?

Fall 2010 Beauty Trends

Can you believe it?? We’re less than a month away from Fall 2010. It’s almost time to pull out the Fall Trends — fitted jacket, white shirt, plaid print, boots and of course, we can’t forget the Fall beauty trends.
Here’s what you should be looking for this Fall:
Bold Brows – Try a strong and daring brow.  Color in your brows with a shade that is one or two shades darker than the hair on your head.
Berry Lips – Make a statement in an eye catching berry shade from midnight black, deep plum or sheer violet. Remember, for lighter complexions, you want to use a lighter berry color and for darker complexions you want to apply a deeper color.
Clean Skin – Nothing fancy here, but for a carefree, yet radiant and youthful look, try going au naturale… well almost. To achieve this look, use a foundation brush instead of a sponge and dampen the brush so that the foundation goes on sheer.  Or you could also try a tinted moisturizer for the fresh and dewy feel and finish it with a cream blush in soft pink or bronzer and translucent dusting powder.
Imperfect Eyeliner - There are no rules for this sexy and grungy look — you want it to look slightly messy
