I can hardly believe, we’ve turned 4 years old this month. As they say, “time flies when you’re having fun”, and I’ve definitely, enjoyed sharing my beauty experiences (the good, bad and ugly) and connecting with you over the years.

RECAP :: Vanity Rich’s 3 Year Anniversary Party

As you all know, we celebrated our three year anniversary this past weekend. Between our awesome guests, beauty trivia, raffles, “girl talk”, sweets and libations, I have to say, it was a fabulous time.

A HUGE thanks goes out to hair aficionado, Sierra Conney, owner of Salon Blush for hosting the event, decorista and event planning extraordinaire, Erica Hampton of Parties by the Hamptons and Roxanne Richardson for all the beautiful floral arrangements.

Thanks to all the lovely people who made it out. I can’t wait to do this again!

Yesterday, I had the opportunity of receiving an amazing massage from Lilly at The Jefferson Spa. I selected the “Couture Massage” in which I had the option of selecting the duration, pressure, strokes/techniques, areas of focus and oils. I chose a 60 minute, medium pressure, Swedish and deep tissue that focused on my neck, hips and glutes. Let me tell you, it felt heavenly! I was really ready to doze off, that’s how great it felt. After my massage, I was treated to a pleasant snack of Greek yogurt and berries.

The atmosphere, the aura and not to mention, my masseuse, Lilly and the rest of the staff at The Jefferson were superb.

2012 Golden Globe Red Carpet Favorites

Award shows are always fun to watch, yes to witness the winners, but most importantly to see who’s wearing what on the red carpet. From the hair, to the makeup to the gown, this year’s Golden Globe Awards there were many winners on the red carpet.

Angelina Jolie was my favorite for the night. She looked absolutely stunning in a body-hugging white Atelier Versace gown with a accent of red at the top, which perfectly matched her lips. Her makeup and hair were classic! Black winged eye, red lipstick and bun.

Reese Witherspoon went nude with her makeup selection, but there was nothing bland about the red mermaid style Zac Posen dress she rocked.

Claire Danes went modern in a black and white, J. Mendel dress. Loved the open back and her bold eye and lip color.

Nicole Richie banged it with a silver Julien Macdonald dress. Loved the black eyeliner and the hair!

At 47 years old, Elle Macpherson, killed it in this cream corset with a tulle underskirt gown by Zac Posen.

Kate Beckinsale was literally glowing in a strapless Roberto Cavilli gown.

As expected, Sofia Vergara showed off all her curves in a blue Vera Wang mermaid style dress.

I have to admit, I wasn’t crazy about Zooey Deschanel’s hair or dress selection, but I LOVED her tuxedo nails.

Vampires, Skeletons, & Geishas :: Halloween 2011

Unlike Halloween last year, I waited until the last minute to get my Halloween costume together…a few hours to be exact. I ran out to the costume store, and tried to think of something creative, yet simple. I purchased fangs, white paint, black nails, lashes and a black leotard. I figured I’d be a sexy vampire. I beat my face, but my costume on, but the only problem was, my vampire teeth wouldn’t stick (this is what happens when you procrastinate), so I had to quickly think of something else.

I went through some boxes and found a geisha costume I’ve never worn. I figured this would work perfect since I only had my face painted white, I just had to change my lipstick and add blush. I decided against the geisha wig and stuck with my own do. Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of the full costume….

But I did enjoy seeing some of my fav celebs dress up for Halloween. Take a look:

Skin Beauty Lounge Media Day

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending Skin Beauty Lounge’s Media Day. It was an exclusive and intimate event for media for Capitol Hill’s premiere spa. Skin Beauty Lounge (404.5 8th Street, SE, WDC) was recently named by InStyle Magazine as the best place in D.C. for tanning and spa services. I’ve heard of Skin Beauty Lounge before, but I never had the opportunity to visit, so I was super excited to attend this event.

I was happy to know that Skin Beauty Lounge is conveniently located right located across the Eastern Market metro on the Orange/Blue Line. Once I arrived, I was welcomed by Janelle Langford of Urban Suite Entertainment and met some of the staff of Skin Beauty Lounge, including, owner, Meka Mathis, Megan, the receptionist and esthetican, Roxanne.

Their services include: body treatments (airbrush tanning, AHA Peel, Microdermabrasion),facials, brow & lash tinting, eyelash extensions, makeup application and waxing services. I know that the spa is well known for their premiere waxing services, especially the much talked about vajazzling. Their the first to offer this service in D.C. Yet, as much as I was intrigued by the bling, I opted for a simple eyebrow waxing.

If you have followed me for a while, you know I’m very particular about who does my brows. Trust me, I’ve had my share of brow waxing nightmares – (http://www.vanityrich.com/2010/01/no-no-no-dont-funk-with-my-brows.html). Not every who performs this service actually does a good job, but I was in good hands with Roxanne. She didn’t take too much off and surprisingly, I wasn’t red afterwards. She simply cleaned up my brows and I was VERY pleased with Roxanne’s brow work.

Along with the fabulous products/services, wonderful decor, relaxing atmosphere, and convenience of location, I truly loved the fact, that they take evening appointments. As a working women, it’s a little difficult fitting spa appointments in, when most spas take their last clients at 4pm/5pm. Luckily, Skin Beauty Lounge, offers evening appointments Tuesdays-Thursdays, with the latest appointment at 7:30pm. How cool is that?

2011 Emmys Best Dressed :: Ladies in Red

I was glued to football all day yesterday, so unfortunately, I missed the 2011 Emmys, but I did catch the recaps from the many media outlets that were covering it.

Evidently, red was THE color last night. There were so many beauties rocking different shades of the bold and striking hue. Many of which were my favorites for the evening

Check out my Best Dressed List:

The beautiful and curvaceous Sofia Vergara in a long coral Vera Wang gown with one shouldered crepe style, chiffon draping and tumbled tulle.

‘Vampire Dairies’ star, Nina Dobrev, looked stunning in a mermaid style, strapless red Donna Karan dress.

Another ‘Modern Family’ star, Sarah Hyland, looked sophisticated and all grown up in a Christian Siriano pleated peach gown, clinched at the waist with a crystal belt.

‘Friday Night Lights’ actress Connie Britton, in a strapless bow detailing Maria Lucia Hohan dress.

Finally, Dexter’s star, Jennifer Carpenter. She wasn’t rocking the popular color of the night, but her Tony Ward haute couture gown, with hand sewn embellishments and split certainty turned heads.

MTV Turns 30 :: Forever Young

MTV turns 30 today!!! Yes, I know you’re probably wondering, why is this even being mentioned on here, but, think about it…MTV helped bring all of the celebrity beauty, fashion and style fads/trends that we follow to TV. I wasn’t quite thought of yet when MTV launched in August 1, 1981 (give it about 16 months later), but, I basically grew up watching it. Remember when MTV was just one station???

Watching shows like Club MTV, MTV Jams, Yo! MTV Raps, MTV Jams, Total Request and Making the Video is how I grew my love for all different genres of music from alternative, hip hop, pop, rock and so on.

Besides the music videos, there were shows like:

FANatic, where fans got to meet their favorite celebs. I remember I wanted to be on the show so bad to meet Aaliyah. Unfortunately, someone beat me to it.

Single Out, a game show hosted by crazy host Jenny McCarthy, who was later replaced by Carmen Electra where groups of 50 competed to win a date with a lucky contestant.

Where I caught recaps of my favorite series, My So-Called Life

MTV News where my favorite anchor, Serena Altschul delivered the latest in news.

And let’s not forget MTV was the innovators of reality TV. Before there was Jersey Shore, The Hills or Teen Mom, there was The Real World. “This is the true story… of eight strangers… picked to live in a house…work together and have their lives taped… to find out what happens… when people stop being polite… and start getting real…The Real World”. I still remember the first Real World: New York in 1992 with Eric, the model; Kevin Powell, the journalist; and Heather B. …the rest of the cast I really can’t remember. Then there was Los Angeles (remember Tammi Roman before Basketball Wives), San Francisco, London, Miami, Boston, Seattle, Miami, Hawaii, New Orleans then back to New York.

After high school I pretty much stopped watching MTV. I guess it was too many shows and too much to keep up with, but whenever I want to get caught up on videos, I still watch it from time to time.
